Blog 9: Heroic Acts and Heroic Personalities

Every one could be a hero if you are with a warm-heart, love to help or save people, never give up, and a brave person no matter what you have done before, such as a thief, a murder or what else. There is two heroes who commites heroic acts or whose behavior and personality fit the idea of what a hero is like. In the "Hero" film, the characters Bernie La Plante and John Bubber are both qualify for being a hero.

Bernie LaPlante is a hero eventhough he is a thief and was be arrested in the jail. In that film, he saved 54 people from a burning plane. Yet, nobody believes him, beacause he always steal money and credit cards from others. Althouth he has bad behavior, his personality is not that bad. He is a good father, he doesn't want to disappoint his son. Thus, when a boy asked him to save his father from the plane, he accepted because he is not willing to see the boy lose his father. He jumped in that plane and looking for the boy's dad by his promise. He was not in responsible to rescue other people but the boy's dad. However, he still saved all of those people who was stock in the plane.

John Bubber is a homeless man who showed up and said he is the "hero" who saved 54 people in the plane by hearing the experience that Burnie had told him and left his shoe on his truck. He is qualify for being a hero even though he cheated on people that he save 54 people in the plane, because he is a kind, and warm-heart person who encouraged a child who is mostly blind to walk out the darkness, and open his eyes. Fortunately, the miracle happened on this child. Another way to show John is a hero, because he saved Burnie when he was slipped on the building. He hold Burnie's hand and not let him fall even if he could be fallen down together with Burnie, but he never give up.

In the brief, Burnie LaPlante and John Bubber proved that a hero could be any one who is brave to give helping hands for others no matter who he or she is, and what they have done before. Therefore, all of us can be a hero if we are willing to help others from any situation.

Blog 8: Revise CATW Practice 1

The passage "How and why is music a good tool for health?" by Elizabeth Scott,  has shown that music has depth effect on our body and mind in several ways. It can be used to help cancer patients, children with attention problems, and others by music therapy. Different beats of music would bring people different effects on their mind. For instance, faster beats bring people more sensitive. Slower beats bring a quite, and relaxable effects on people's mind. Furthermore, music therapy can help prevent the stress disease by the changes of music which brings slower breathing, slower heart rate, and relaxation effects. I agree with the idea that music therapy is helpful for the person who feels stress.

Music therapy can be a good treatment by inducing people in possitive way of thinking which medicines can't. My cousin who felt stressful during her pregnancy, it's really dangerous and unhealthy for a motherhood and her unborn baby. However, her doctor advised her with the music therapy which is to listen the soft and slower beats music in her house all the time. Naturally, she felt better, relax, and no longer depress by doing with music therapy. Finally, she was successful give a birth with a healthy baby.

Many children have difficult problem by fallen sleep. They might cry at night until their parents sing to them the softly and slowly songs to inducing them fall sleep, or tell a story in peaceful way. For example, I heard my cousin always sing the softly song when her baby was crying at night. After a while, the baby finally stop crying and fallen sleep.

As we can see, the music is a good tool for health, isn't it? People usually use music therapy for relaxation and calm down from stress.

Blog7: CATW Practice2

There are some information about the individuals in groups. The article "In Groups We Shrink" by Carol Tavris indicates how people react differently on their own in groups. They have different behaviors between themselves and within groups. People become lazier when there are a large amount of people in groups. There's no one has responsibility to stop an accident or helping others because the think they don't have to do anything and there are someone else would come to take care of it. This phenomenon, psychologists call it "diffusion of responsibility". I agree with the idea that the author had mentioned "the more people in a group, the lazier each individual in it becomes".

Here is a news I have watched on YouTube, and it happend for real in China, October 2011. In the remote monitoring, it recorded the day that a three or four year old girl, walked alone on the street who had accident twice by two trucks, and there are 18 strangers passed by, but nobody was going to call for help or give a helping hand. After a long while, a trash man saw this girl, and called for help. Finally, this girl's parents was coming after they heard that accident. Unfortunately, it's too late for curing.

I have experienced an evidence that people in group are careless about someone who needs help. I remembered a day when I was on the way back home from shopping mall, i heard someone was screaming from across the street. I noticed that someone had robbered an iphone from that lady because I saw the lady was running and yelling behind a guy who hold an iphone in his hand and running realy faster. The lady kept running and yelling, but still no one was going to help her to catch the robber.

In brief, these two evidences are both express that people are less responsibility when they are in a large amount of group. It's bad behavior and coldblood by uncerned others in groups who needs helps. You might save someone's life if you give whom a helping hand. For example, if there's someone who called for help earlier, the girl might be saved; if there's someone or some people who walked on that street caught the guy who robbered the iPhone, the lady might retrieve her iPhone back. Therefore, there probably will decreasing the crimes and misfortune by helping others in any situation you at.

Blog 6: type the CATW 1

Base on the research "How and why is musica good tool for health?" by Elizabeth Scott, it has shown that music has depth effect on our body and mind in several ways. It is growing everywhere to help cancer patients, children with attention problems, and others. For instance, faster beats bring people more sensitive and cautions on concentration. Slower beats bring a quite, and relaxable effects on people's mind. Furthermore, music therapy can help prevent the bad effects of stress disease by the changes of music that brings slower breathing, slower heart rate, and relaxation effects. It is also helping to keep stress under control. I agree with this explaination that music can bring many benefits for health, because I have some evidences from people arround me who have experienced.

My cousin who felf depress during her pregancy. However, her doctor advised her with the music therapy which is to listen the soft and slower beats music in her house all the time. Naturally, she felt better, relax, and no longer depress after she took her doctors suggest. Finally, she was successful give a birth with a healthy baby.
