Blog 4: summary of "The Allegory of the Cave"
The republic "The Allegory of the Cave" tells a story that test the humans' reactions after they reach to the realities. There are humans have chained on their legs and necks in the cave. Thus, they can't move, and can only see the images that pass by over the wall because the fire is behind them. As a whole day, they would look at the shadows and think the shadows talked to each other by the sound of the sound reflection from the other side. One of the prisoners was released, and got pain in his eyes by the light. Certainly, it took time for him to completely get accustomed to the light. After then, he sees the realities in the world. For instance, he sees shadows best, and the stars spangled in the sky. Also, he wants to share this experience with his friends. Unfortunately, his friends reject him because he won't able to see the world as they do. Finally, we learn that the true knowledge is distressful from this allegory.

Hi Lin.
ReplyDeleteYour summary is really good, it tells me overall what happened in the story. It's very well written. There are some minor mistakes in the spelling of some words that you have but it's not too bad so you don't need to really stress it, Some words like "they can't move" that wrote it's not correct because we are talking about the past and you wrote that statement in the present, so instead of it being "They can't move" it should be "they couldn't move" , another one is "and got pain " It should be " He had pain" because again we are writing about the past not the present. See these are minor mistakes that anyone could make but make a whole lot of difference :).
1.You stated the main idea of the passage and I understood it right away.

3. Yes all the unimportant ideas included
4. The summary is written in her own words.
5. Just a few but they can be easily fixed and are commonly made.
6. YEPPP.
7. She did not use her personal opinion on the summary whatsoever.
Lin, I really Like your summary. I feel as like anybody who didn't read the passage and read the story would understand it very well. Good Job. :D
